The Journey Has Begun!
After three weeks of Leadership Team, new faculty, and full faculty and staff meetings it is wonderful to be finishing our first week of classes! I am writing today to introduce our new families to my blog. This is also an excuse for me to stop making excuses and start writing my blog again after a quiet summer of no blogging.
I try to use this space to talk about the things that I am thinking about, that make me happy, or things about which I may be concerned. We try to keep all of my old blogs on the site in case you get really bored!
I love when we get to this time of year, and we start to settle into a routine. I am a very fortunate head of school in that our Board of Trustees allows me to coach, lead student hiking trips, and occasionally teach a class. I had a wonderful hiking trip with eleven students and two teachers in Stowe, Vermont last week. I enjoy sharing my love of the outdoors with young people, spending time telling stories around the campfire, and challenging everyone to a game of Apples to Apples. This fall I am spending my afternoons co-coaching the girls’ soccer team. And tomorrow night I am taking the senior class to the Red Hot Chile Peppers Concert at Fenway Park in Boston (someone had to go…). These activities help me stay connected to our students and give me insight into their daily lives—while also keeping me young.
There is a great vibe on campus as the students and faculty get to know one another and help build the culture of the community. We are off to a great start and I hope to blog again soon!
